Return was commissioned by the Ririe-Woodbury Dance Company, and the music accompanied a series of performances in May of 2018. This is SLEE’S sixth recording, and fourth LP since their debut in 2010. The release is set for Feb. 17, 2020.

This project was SLEE’S second evening length collaboration with the Ririe-Woodbury Dance Company, led by Artistic Director Daniel Charon. The dance performance was originally presented in the round, while the music score supported that presentation with a quadraphonic surround sound mix crafted for the performance theater. Now the score has been completely remixed and remastered for the standard stereo format.

This electro-acoustic dance score includes fifteen original compositions which cover a wide variety of moods, rhythms, and styles.

"...A masterpiece of ambient art music... Return, the newest album release of the Salt Lake Electric Ensemble (SLEE), transmits listeners to their own virtual interstellar journey, exploring a legion of cosmic soundscapes with surprising pleasures in timbral shifts and rhythmic modulations which listeners can enjoy and immerse themselves in as they see fit."

- Les Roka, writing for The Utah Review
